Why JACC bans drinking at its conferences

California Education Code prohibits drinking of alcohol at community college events and because you represent your college the law applies to JACC conferences: teachers and students alike, regardless of age. JACC's Behavior Policy reinforces that law.

Summary of Conferences Section

JACC holds a number of conferences and conventions throughout the year, some for students, some for faculty and most for both. Typically, the organization holds regional conferences for students and faculty in the fall semester (October-November) and an annual statewide convention in the spring semester (late March-early April). In the winter months (January-February-March) it holds a conference for faculty only where teachers can learn more about the craft of teaching and advising student publications. That conference is almost always held in Morro Bay. Some years the organization holds student-oriented leadership conferences. This page lists all the files on this site related to conferences. Calculating commuters

To accommodate those students/schools who wish to commute to the JACC state convention and not stay in the hotel the JACC executive board has established a commuter fee that will also help individuals pay their share of facility rental fees that will accrue.

JACC Refund Policy

It is not possible for JACC to refund registration fees for delegates who have paid and are unable to attend. Here is some advice from other advisers on how to prepare yourself in case you have cancellations.

Pay through PayPal

Distinguished Service Awards

Each year JACC presents a Distinguished Service to Journalism Education Award to someone outside of the organization who has contributed significantly to community college journalism education and the organization. 2008 Maximum Enrollments Survey Results

JACC often asks its members for enrollment figures in journalism classes in its periodic Snapshot Surveys so that schools can measure their enrollments with other journalism programs. What has not been catalogued, however, is the differing college expectations for those classes, the maximum expected enrollments that are established by all college curriculum committees when courses are approved for each campus.
