2010 Conference

The JACC Mid-Winter Faculty Conference will be held at Morro Bay, Calif. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 23-24, 2010. A special Blue Heron pre-conference workshop will be held all day Friday, Jan. 22. The conference will be held at the Inn at Morro Bay.

The topic for the Blue Heron Workshop will be “Teaching Students to Cover Stories Involving Trauma, including how to handle their own trauma as first-responders. The workshop will be coordinated by the Dart Center on Journalism & Trauma.

Friday's workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday's events begin at 9 a.m., but will also include a Friday night reception for those who arrive by 8 p.m. Sunday's events conclude at noon.

The cost of the Morro Bay Conference is $150 for Saturday-Sunday, or a special $200 rate to include the Blue Heron workshop on Friday. The cost for Blue Heron only is $75.

Make room reservations directly with the Inn at Morro Bay. Rates are $99 & $139 depending on type of room (double/double, Queen or King) and location in hotel. Mid-Winter Faculty Conference

Also known as the Morro Bay Conference because of its location each January/February, the Mid-Winter Faculty Conference is a two-day affair for journalism faculty to discuss teaching issues and get an annual update on media law. Many years a day-long workshop, known as the Blue Heron Workshop, precedes the conference and focuses on one topic of teaching training. (More)

State Convention

The Annual Convention is a three-day affair for students and faculty that offers a full array of workshops, contests, meetings and more. This premiere JACC event rotates annually between southern and northern California and is held in late March/early April. (More)
